I BOUGHT ONE FOR MYSELF TO USE ON A PORCH. I LIKE IT SO MUCH I DECIDED TO PUT THEM IN MY STORE.
The pictures of the fan were taken being used on my porch. For the size and quiet operation it moves a lot of air.
I have mine hooked up to a 10 amp/hr 12 volt battery ( sold in my store in the "deep cycle battery" isle) Although it is hard to really judge RPMs I have had mine running for up to 16 hours on this battery. I would say the first 12 hours were full speed then it ran slower, even at the 16 hour run time it still moved a fair amount of air but you could tell the battery was getting low, after 16 hours I unplugged it.
I would use this fan camping in a heartbeat. In a tent this would feel just like a ceiling fan. The last two picture are taken in my tent, I did set it up and used it, turned it off during the night because it was cold enough, but did turn it back on in the morning. TOO COOL. Safety pins held it in place with more safety pins securing the wiring out of the way of the blade.
Can be used with a small 12 volt dc power supply (110 ac to 12 vDC )
I am going to test one on a 18 volt 10 watt solar panel. Directly wired to the panel. I want to see if the fan can handle the 18 volts although the manufacturer says <14 v. I will add my results once I have seen what happens.
I have now tested the fan wired directly to a 10 watt(17.6 v .6 amp) and a 20 watt (17.6 v 1.3 amp ) panels. It runs fine on the 10 watt but only when it is real sunny, on the 20 watt it runs faster, noisy( for the first time) and after a few hours the room it was in had a burnt smell. Back to 10 watt panel. I did not like the fact that it came on and off with every passing cloud. so now i'm back to the fan running off a 12 volt battery at the same time I am chargeing the battery with the 10 watt panel with my small 10 amp charge controller attached. I am now going to leave it on and see how ling it last .
I do own other 12 volt fans that have run years on the same 18 volt panels coming on every time it is sunny and sometimes running for hours.
Day #1 experiment, very cloudy, in between clouds the fan comes on what looks like full power. It has not run long enough at any one time to see if the 18 volts has done any damage.
Even at full speed I stuck my hand in the path of the blade( yes on purpose) as a test, It stung but did not cut my skin. I did it several times.
The 3 blades require you to screw them on ( screws included)
Recently I have noticed that some fans are coming in with "snap in blades" ( no screws required) You may get this version. You will know if this is the version you received because there are no screw holes where the blades snap in.
