This is for an original 1973 style B poster of the movie Wattstax, a film of the benefit concert to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the 1965 Watts riots. The concert was held in 1972 and featured an all star cast of the Stax label’s most prominent artists of the time. Combining the Watts area along with the Stax label paved the way for the title of the concert and movie. Featured artists such as the Staple Singers, Richard Pryor, Albert King, Luther Ingram, Isaac Hayes, The Bar-Kays and Johnnie Taylor are just a few of the acts performing on the bill. This is an original one sheet in incredible condition and is a must have for anyone who collects music movie posters. Although it doesn’t get the recognition today that it should, back in its day, this was one of THE movies to see in 1973. Be it blues, pop, rock, soul or gospel, everything fits nicely into this classic.
