Old signed Norman Honie Sr. Concho Belt
This wonderful Sterling Silver Concho Belt was made by Norman Honie Sr. who at one time trained in his trade at Hopi Silvercrafts and Guild on 2nd Mesa. He was born in the 1920's in Shungyopavi Village (First Mesa), and later moved to Second Mesa and in 1966, he began making jewelry. Each piece is properly hallmarked. It is a classic Hopi Concho design and executed using very substantial Sterling Silver using an overlay technique developed and refined at Hopi after WWll. I am especially impressed with the engineering involved in constructing the links and hinges! Take a few moments to become familiar with the way the conchos are linked to each other. Sturdy, efficient, and graceful.
I've found no defects like noticeable scratches, etc. in the Concho Set. Some of the Conchas have dark marks on them that you can see in the photographs. This is not scratching and can easily be buffed out by a jeweler. Since it is part of the patina, I chose to leave it as is and find it to be just fine. It has a warm tarnish... I believe that you will be pleased!
    Thanks!
