Pistol Skin Kit Template with Precut Pieces
GunSkins Pistol Skins will fit most semi-automatic or revolver type pistols
. The DIY vinyl wrap kit is generic and requires the user to trim to fit their specific model. This also includes airsoft replicas, and BB guns. The kit comes with the following precut pieces:
- Two 4.75" x 8” frame pieces
- One 3.75” x 8” slide piece
- Two 1” x 3.25” pieces of additional material
They are waterproof and have a non-reflective matte finish. Pistol Skins conform to any shape and are easy to install. For revolvers, use the slide piece to wrap the cylinder. If your gun is longer than 8", the Pistol Skin may not contain enough material to cover the entire surface.
Pistol Skins are available in a variety of tactical, hunting, and specialty camouflage patterns.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why won't the vinyl stick to the surface of my gun?
You must thoroughly clean the gun before installing the wrap. Use a gun-specific degreaser and a small brush, scrubing all recessed areas to remove oil and dirt. Wipe clean using a lint-free cloth or rinse with warm water and let air dry.
Can the wrap be removed?
Pistol Skins are removable and have no effect on the finish. To remove, heat the material with a heat gun/blow dryer and peel off piece by piece.
Will my holster affect the material?
Yes, holsters will create friction and rub against the vinyl along the edges of the gun. If the holster is adjustable we recommend loosening it accordingly. Otherwise, early wear is inevitable.
Will heat from the barrel melt the vinyl?
The heat from the barrel will not affect the material. However, we do not recommend wrapping the barrel if you fire using full auto or use a suppressor.
Step by Step Installation Instructions
Clean the Surface.
Use a gun-specific degreaser and a small brush to work away all dirt, oil, lubrication, and residue. Rubbing alcohol is a good last step to remove moisture, but alone is not strong enough to cut through gun oil.
A clean gun makes for a clean install.
Peel and Stick.
Peel the material off the template, one piece at a time. Place it centered on the surface and work it in using your fingers.
If need to, peel off and reposition until you are satisfied with the placement.
Heat and Trim.
Use a heat gun or blow dryer to get the vinyl to conform to the shape of the gun. Take your time and work away wrinkles and air bubbles.
Use a sharp hobby knife to trim away excess material. Overlap the extra and press firmly to set. Heat again to finish.
