    The Alice Leekya Homer
    Bolo Tie
    This wonderful Bolo Tie
was made by the famous and talented Zuni artist Alice Leekya Homer. She lived from about 1920-1988 and was active in producing jewelry from the 1940's until about 1988.  She is perhaps the most famous for her freestyle channel inlay work (like this bolo), carved fetishes (she learned that skill from her famous father), and mosaic overlay buckles, necklaces, etc. As a noted Zuni artist, her work is featured in several high end galleries and collections in many of the major Native Jewelry catalogs and reference books. I have several of Alice's Buckles and Bolo Ties listed on eBay right now and consider myself a real "fan" of her amazing creations.
This Bolo Pendant is stamped on the reverse side with her correct hallmark "ALH" and it is guaranteed to be Sterling Silver and authentic. The tips are also Sterling Silver and New. I have found no defects like cracked or loose shells, noticeable scratches, etc. in the Bolo pendant,or the Fancy Bolo Tips. There are what I am sure to be natural imperfections in some of the Mother of Pearl shells. Look at the pictures carefully and see if you can find any. The braided black leather bolo cord is also New. The Sterling Silver all has a heavy tarnish...The Bennet clasp "Bennet Pat. Pend." is fine. The clasp stamping would indicate that this may have been made between 1967 and 1983...or at least, the Bennet clasp was. The Bolo Tie is perhaps 35-50+/- years old. I believe that you will be pleased with the condition that it is in!
    T
he workmanship is exceptional and fine.
The Bolo features a channel inlay pattern of several Mother of Pearl Shell color varieties. The Bolo Pendant is  built up on a Sterling Silver base that has numerous pieces of these shells set tightly into the intricate Sterling Silver frame of the freestyle form.  I love the colors chosen and the composition of the shells that create such a radiant and intriguing pattern...even in low light conditions! You might be willing to bet that the surface has offset angles. Funny, it looks that way, but it is in fact extremely smooth when you run your finger across the slightly convex surface of the front.
This is a museum quality piece of Native American jewelry . I've traded lots of "fish scale" buckles and bolos made by other artists. This is something entirely different and wonderful!
This amazing and radiant Bolo Tie is full of character and may be recognized by many people that know quality collectible Native jewelry. When you take a look at the pictures, please inspect the bolo pendant carefully for the fine detail in both design and execution. Your friends
may compliment you and your taste in Zuni Jewelry. In any event, they will be "dazzled".
    Thanks!
