Description

This vintage sterling silver bolo tie is quite simply a masterwork by Santo Domingo/Kewa Pueblo artist Vidal Aragon (1923-2015). The overlay is superb, as you can see, with beautiful patina—and even the tips are works of art, with elegant swirls and tiny applied conchos or buttons. The overlay is unbelievably intricate for this technique, and I believe the “sun” in the bolo has a dab of gold on it, as Aragon was known for this kind of detail.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition overall.  There’s a tiny bit of red paste (?) in an area or two of the overlay that may have been for cleaning or polishing in the past but it’s hardly noticeable.  The tie measures about 20” long, from the neck to the tips.  The bolo is about 1.75” long x just over an inch wide.  Please take a good look at the photos.
An extraordinary piece by an exceptional artist known for inventing “storyteller” jewelry and for his incredible overlay work. (The Four Winds Gallery online has a wonderful tribute to and more information about Vidal Aragon if you're interested).
Thanks for looking!
