Vietnam Era US Army/USMC Light Weight Collaspible  Entrenching Tool Carrier or Cover with post-Vietnam Tri-Fold Shovel - Nice Condition
Up for sale is Vietnam Era US Army/USMC Light Weight Collaspible Entrenching Tool Folding Shovel Nylon Carrier Cover with a post-Vietnam Tri-fold Shovel.  The cover or carrier is the Nylon version used during the Vietnam era.  The shovel covers have various dates from the late 1960's through the mid-1970's.  The covers are original, some fading and evidence of prior usage.  The internal plastic edge guides may be cracked or missing.  It was common for these to easily crack and be removed by the GI's when put into actual usage.  The Collaspible or Tri-fold Shovels are original US GI Contract, they are marked US and will have post-1975 production dates.  These are the same exact design used during the later part of the Vietnam Conflict.  There are no choice of dates.  The shovels will have minor evidence of prior usage.
The lightweight folding intrenching tool officially replaced the
M1951
model when it was standardized in 1969 and had an aluminum handle and a steel blade. Unlike its' predecessor it did not have a pick blade, but the shovel did feature both a serrated cutting edge and a sharpened blade edge. The tool was carried on the

inside a specially designed nylon
