Description
Vintage Native American Buckle with turquoiseI tested this buckle with a magnet and ice. Though it melted ice as quick as sterling pieces, I did buy and extra, extra strong earth magnet and was able to get some pull on the buckle leaving me to think this is nickel silver. I don't have a high tech way to test it. This heavy buckle was in my Mom's stock from her store. I never saw it displayed in all the time I worked in her shop during the 70's and early 80's. I had a friend of hers, who was a wholesale Native American dealer look at it. He said it may be old pawn with the 0.00 tag, likely what she paid back then. The turquoise is really pretty. It appears to be untreated as the pieces have the same matrix, but are shifting in color between them.
This buckle will fit up to a 1 1/2" belt. It measures 3" x 4" and weighs 150 grams.

I identify stones to the best of my ability.
Turquoise may or may not be treated. If I know it is block turquoise, coral, or opal, I will state so. Understand I am not an expert. I can only base it on why my Dad taught me when he repaired jewelry.
I test stones using the hot needle test and if silver isn't marked sterling or 925, I will test using magnet and ice.
